Present Perfect Tense adalah kalimat yang digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian dimasa lalu namun masih berlanjut hingga sekarang atau kejadian yang dimulai di masa lampau namun masih ada hubungannya dengan saat ini.

Past Perfect Tense adalah kalimat yang digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian atau peristiwa yang terjadi sebelum kegiatan lain berlangsung dimasa lampau

Contoh :

I had already left before she came to the office

(Saya sudah pulang sebelum dia datang ke Kantor)

Berikut Rules untuk Past Perfect Tense:

Auxillary verb untuk past perfect adalah HAD untuk semua jenis subject

Verbal Sentence

Yaitu kalimat yang predikatnya kata kerja.

Kalimat	Rumus Past Perfect Tense	Contoh
Positif (+)	Subjek +  had + verb 3	She had worked hard
Negatif (-)	Subjek +  had + not + verb 3	They had not worked hard
Interogatif (?)	Had+ subjek + verb 3?	Had they worked hard?

Time signal 

Keterangan waktu yang sering muncul di past perfect seperti: 

after, before, when, already, for, since. 

Contoh kalimat past perfect tense (Verbal):

• My leg hurt because I had slipped off the stairs
• After they had left the village they met the boy
• I had called my mom before she went
• Had your friend gone before I came?
• I felt very nervous whwn I had seen the audience
• She cried sadly aftre she read the letter. 
• He had made a lot of mistake
• We hadn't got bad marks in the test

Nominal Sentence

yaitu kalimat yang predikatnya bukan kata kerja melainkan kata benda (noun) kata keterangan (Adverb) atau kata sifat (Adjective)

Been adalah to be untuk past perfect atau to be bentuk ketiga

Compliment : Adverb/Adjectve/Noun
